# Sound recordings

These sound assets are adaptations of recordings published under [CC0 1.0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/). Their license is independent of the project's source-code license. They are sound-design references, not recordings of a nuclear power station.

## Edits

All recordings were converted to 32 kHz mono, high-pass filtered at 28 Hz to reduce subsonic rumble, trimmed to steady passages, joined with a 0.6-second equal-power crossfade, DC corrected, and normalized with a maximum sample peak of 0.65. Outputs are 16-bit PCM WAVs.

- `mechanical.wav`: source passage 0.1–5.3 seconds; resulting loop 4.6 seconds.
- `water.wav`: source passage 2.0–12.6 seconds; resulting loop 10.0 seconds.
- `steam.wav`: source passage 16.0–26.6 seconds; resulting loop 10.0 seconds.

The application applies additional scene-dependent equalization, spatial placement, and gain. Primary coolant uses the water recording; the steam recording represents the separate secondary circuit.
